De Amerikaanse rockband Stone Sour werd in 1992 opgericht door Corey Taylor, de latere zanger van Slipknot. Hun debuutalbum verscheen pas in 2002, maar zette de band met zijn goed in het gehoor liggende mix van alternative metal en rock wel meteen op de kaart. Opvolger Come What(ever) May (2006) was nog succesvoller en behoort inmiddels tot de moderne klassiekers uit de rockhistorie. Met House Of Gold And Bones – Part 1 & 2 (2012/2013) bleek Stone Sour ook progrock-conceptalbums te kunnen maken. In 2017 verscheen hun zesde plaat Hydrograd, waarop de band gevarieerder klinkt dan ooit!
