Wat kunnen dieren ons leren bij het maken van robots? Hoe kunnen mens en bacterie samenwerken om een betere wereld te creëren? Hoe overleef je een DDoS aanval? Dit soort vragen worden beantwoord tijdens de finale van FameLab Nederland, de grootste competitie in de wetenschapscommunicatie waarbij nieuw talent wordt uitgedaagd om een publiek enthousiast te maken voor bètawetenschappen.

Op 9 mei strijden de beste sprekers in de Cloud Nine voor een plaats in de FameLab International Final. Deelnemers hebben slechts drie minuten om een wetenschappelijk concept te pitchen voor de jury. Elk jurylid zal de presentaties beoordelen op drie kwaliteiten: content, helderheid en charisma. Tussen de pitches door zal stand- upcomedian Lieven Scheire laten zien dat humor ook een uitstekend middel is om wetenschap te communiceren.

These are some of the things you could learn at the FameLab Netherlands Final, the biggest science communication competition to discover new talent to engage the public in science and engineering.

Fancy coming along to watch? Come to TivoliVredenburg on Wednesday 9 May 2018 and witness the Netherlands’ finest science communicators as they battle it out to win a place at the FameLab International Final. Contestants will have just three minutes to pitch a concept in science or engineering to the panel of judges. Each judge will assess the finalists presentations on three qualities: Content, Clarity and Charisma. In between the finalists pitches, stand-upcomedian Lieven Scheire will show that humor can be an excellent tool in science communication.
